Mars RX: Rethinking our Actions
Mars will be retrograde in Leo & Cancer from now until February of next year. This can be a really frustrating time for most of us. The things we want to get done seem to be at a stalemate, the places we want to go seem just out of reach, and our relationship to movement becomes flustered. At the same time, this is a really great time to rethink how you do things. Mars is about action, how we get what we want, and the complications that come with it all. When we have been doing things the same way for a long time, pivoting can feel really uncomfortable. It’s actually in these uncomfortable feelings that we find what we are made of, how brave we really are, and Mars loves us to be bold.
Mars goes retrograde in a different sign every two years, which means it will effect a different area of your life each time. This will mean the stalled action takes its turn in an area of your life every few years. This time it’s going to happen in two areas of your because it’s happening in both Leo & Cancer. It will be RX in Cancer the longest, starting January 6th and turning direct on February 17th. Keep in mind it will stay in Cancer until mid-April so this will be the most important area for all of us during the retrograde. Wherever this is for you, whether it’s home & family, work, friendships, partnerships, or even health, there will be a sense of walking through quicksand and some agitation that you can’t quite get past.
Your assertiveness & drive in these areas are going to be slowed down & redirected. This can be a wonderful opportunity for you to really look at your desires, goals & ambitions and ask yourself:
Do I really want this?
What’s driving me to do this?
Is this the way I want to respond?
Asking these kind of questions are what retrogrades are for. They aren’t some menacing energy trying to trip you up, instead reframe them to be a “do-over” in an area that really needs some looking after.
Mars is also about conflict and how we assert ourselves in tense situations. During Mars retrograde, old conflicts or resentments may resurface. Lots of things can manifest during this time like arguments, misunderstandings, or even revisiting past relationships. When you know the energy is going to be a little aggravating, you have to pull all that self-awareness in and watch your reactions to things & people.
Take the opportunity to not engage in explosive or rash behaviors, use this period for reflection and finding ways to resolve lingering issues with a calm and thoughtful approach. You may find that the plans you've been working on don't proceed as smoothly during Mars Rx. Delays, setbacks, or miscommunications are common, so it's important to be flexible. Instead of pushing forward aggressively, focus on reviewing your strategies, correcting mistakes, and fine-tuning your approach.
While Mars retrograde might feel like a frustrating slow-down or even a setback, it’s an essential period for reflection and reevaluation. Instead of fighting against the natural pause, use this time wisely to revisit old goals, resolve lingering conflicts, and reassess your energy and desires. By embracing the introspective energy of Mars Rx, you’ll be better prepared to launch forward with renewed focus and clarity once the retrograde ends in mid-February.
Remember, the cosmic rhythms are there to help us grow into who we came here to be, even if it means taking a step back before moving ahead!
